What is LiveRadioSweeper:

Threat Classification: PUP/Browser Hijacker

LiveRadioSweeper or LiveRadioSweeper Toolbar is an application developed by Mindspark Interactive Network and powered by the MyWay search website. It is considered a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) and/or a Browser Hijacker by the majority of the reputable security researchers in the cyber security branch. After performing a thorough inspection, our security researchers have classified the LiveRadioSweeper Toolbar as a browser hijacker and a PUP too. You might have observe, that even on the official web page, there is a warning, which is saying, that if your download the LiveRadioSweeper application, you are agreeing, that your browser search scope will change as well as your default New Tab URL and that you agree with the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy – if you have some experience with all the crapware over the Internet, this should immediately make you more suspicious & in your mind a small red light will start blinking … The LiveRadioSweeper could be downloaded from the http://www.LiveRadioSweeper.com, however it is distributed by multiple questionable websites, in highly suspicious software bundles, which could install much more then just this toolbarOnce the LiveRadioSweeper is installed on the victim’s computer, the PUP/Browser Hijacker will first try to change browsers settings & windows registry, making the recovery much harder. It will also change the default search engine to MyWay.com and the default new tab home page to http://hp.myway.com. The browser hijacker will attach itself to every popular and widely used web browser on the victim’s PC, and will compromise the browser`s settings such as the home page and the default search engine. So when next time the user performs a web search, it will be redirected to http://hp.myway.com/. Our advise is to consider the search results compromised and to get rid of the hp.myway.com web search as soon as possible.

Usually, LiveRadioSweeper comes packed with other free software products and is being installed by default, when the user accepts the EULA, while performing an express/recommended installation of that software. The possible distribution of the LiveRadioSweeper varies, but is not limited to – installing third-party toolbars, free software products, downloading e-mail attachments, clicking on ads or banners etc..

LiveRadioSweeper will fill your browser screen with unwanted advertising, trying to attract more users to the advertised web pages and generate income from the online traffic. LiveRadioSweeper may keep track of your browsing activity and steal valuable information as login credentials, financial information and even bank accounts data. This information might be sent to third-party companies, which might used it for marketing purposes or for something else. That’s why this infection should not be left unattended, and needs to be terminated immediately, as it seems to be a serious threat to your online security.

!!! Please note that these kinds of infections could potentially bring up other malware to your computer and even cause loss of data. We strongly recommend you to not underestimate such threats.
