What is GetFormsOnline Toolbar:

Threat Classification: Browser Hijacker/PUP

GetFormsOnline or as it is also known GetFormsOnline or Get Forms Online Toolbar was developed by the notorious Mindspark Interactive Network company and is considered a very dangerous and malicious Browser Hijacker by the majority of the reputable malware researchers in the IT Anti-Malware community. After performing many tests and lots of experiments, our malware researchers were able to classify the GetFormsOnline Toolbar as a Browser Hijacker and as a PUP as well. They also concluded that GetFormsOnline Toolbar is most likely being distributed via software bundles as well as via its official website. The software bundles are usually installed by the user, because they claim to contain some popular shareware or freeware program and because that the computer users don’t read the EULA / Terms and Conditions of these software bundle installers. The computer users are not properly informed what is being installed on their computers by these suspicious software bundles  and often even are wondering where does the GetFormsOnline Toolbar come from?! That’s why our security advisers are recommending all users to read the Terms Of Use / End User License Agreements of the software installed and to always opt-out the default installation and to select custom/advanced installation, where every installation step is required to ask the user before execution, making the installation of unknown/unwanted/suspicious or malicious software impossible. Using the custom or advanced installation procedure is definitely the best defensive tactic when using computers. Basically, the main idea of this defensive tactic is to avoid installing software products, when these are not requested nor required for dependency reasons or when this software is just unknown or the user doesn’t want to install it – install only software packets, which are required for your work – if you are not to use it, don’t install it at all! Often, the computer users don’t know where does this GetFormsOnline Toolbar came from?! Once installed on a computer, the GetFormsOnline Toolbar will start modifying web browser settings & windows registry database, creating keys or modifying them, which makes the recovery of the system much harder. The Get Forms Online Toolbar will modify the settings of the default web browser and will modify the default search engine setting to Ask.com and the default homepage setting to http://home.tb.ask.com. The Get Forms Online Browser Hijacker/PUP will try to reset web searches to be performed using http://home.tb.ask.com/. According to our security experts, if you’ve noticed, that your web browsers are redirecting search requests to another search engine – not yours,  you should avoid search results, suggestions or pop-ups by the new search engine, as these could be manipulated and could be full of Malware infections, Link SPAM or countless 3rd party ads.

Usually, GetFormsOnline Toolbar comes packed with other freeware / shareware software products and is configured to install some of them by default, immediately after users accept the installer’s EULA/Terms of Use while performing an express/recommended installation. The possible distribution of the GetFormsOnline Toolbar varies but is not limited to – installing third-party toolbars, free software products, downloading e-mail attachments, clicking on ads or banners etc..

GetFormsOnline Toolbar will fill your browser screen with unwanted advertising, trying to attract more users to the advertised web pages and generate income from the online traffic. GetFormsOnline Toolbar may keep track of your browsing activity and steal valuable information as login credentials, financial information, and even bank accounts data. This information might be sent to third-party companies, which might use it for marketing purposes or for something else. That’s why this infection should not be left unattended and needs to be terminated immediately, as it seems to be a serious threat to your online security.

!!! Please note that these kinds of infections could potentially bring up other malware to your computer and even cause loss of data. We strongly recommend you to not underestimate such threats.
