How to remove Freshy Toolbar
What is Freshy Toolbar:
Threat Classification: Browser Hijacker
Freshy appears as many things together – first of all it is advertised as a Freshy Toolbar, but later in the website, you will notice that its developers the notorious ClientConnect Ltd. are claiming that Freshy could get their latest web news, no matter where you are on the web – so Freshy, the malicious browser extension, appears capable of connecting to various websites and downloading and using some data without any consent or permission. Our malware researchers ran some tests and tool a very close look at the Freshy Toolbar. which appears capable to infiltrate user’s browser and override its settings, setting up whatever it wants as web browser homepage, search engine or default URL for all New Tabs or the Toolbar. The Freshy Toolbar is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by majority of the reputable security researchers, mainly because it has been distributed using various software bundles, which could bring up very dangerous ad-supported freeware products. After a thorough inspection, our malware experts classified it as a browser hijacker. The Freshy Toolbar usually arrives as a drive-by installation, brought by some freeware product, which was hidden in the Custom and/or Advanced section of the bundle installer. Its distribution uses various suspicious or even dangerous software bundles and the normal user behavior is to agree with everything and just click next, next, next until the finish button appears – that’s what these guys are counting on – the easiest way to install an unwanted program on one’s machine is to put it in a bundle … That’s why all security experts strongly recommend all customers and visitors to read very careful, what they are agreeing to install and if possible to always opt-out for custom or advanced installation – this simple trick will save you a lot of time, loss data, troubles and money. The Freshy Toolbar will take over every popular web browser on the victim’s PC, and will change and compromise browser settings such as the home page and the default search engine. When finished, the user will notice that all of his/hers web searches are redirected to some 3rd party website powered by ClientConnect Ltd., which our experts warned us to consider compromised and full of SPAM, adware and/or 3rd party advertising.
Usually, Freshy Toolbar comes packed with other freeware products and installs by default, when the user accepts the EULA, while performing an express/recommended installation of that software. The possible distribution of the Freshy Toolbar varies but is not limited to – installing third-party toolbars, free software products, downloading e-mail attachments, clicking on ads or banners etc..
Freshy Toolbar will fill your browser screen with unwanted advertising, trying to attract more users to the advertised web pages and generate income from the online traffic. Freshy Toolbar may keep track of your browsing activity and steal valuable information as login credentials, financial information and even bank accounts data. This sensitive information might being sent to third-party companies, which might used it for their own marketing purposes. That’s why this infection should not be left unattended, and needs to be terminated immediately, as it seems to be a serious threat to your cyber security and/or online identity.
