Threat Classification: PUP/adware
CycloneCover or Ads by CycloneCover or CycloneCover Ads is a browser adware, developed using the JustPlugIT platform and capable of infiltrating into your system silently and without asking you for permissions, then it could modify the browser settings in such a way that the CycloneCover browser extension will become active. Once installed and active the CycloneCover ad extension will start showing various ads on almost every webpage you visit. We strongly advise you to remove the CycloneCover extension as soon as you detected it, because it is classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) and an adware, which displays various advertisements presented as pop-up boxes with coupons, underlined keywords, advertisement banners and sponsored links. If your browser starts showing “Ads by CycloneCover”, “CycloneCover Ads”, “By CycloneCover”, “Powered by CycloneCover” or “Brought to you by CycloneCover”, you should consider your computer infected with adware. CycloneCover loads tons of unwanted advertisements on almost every web page that you visit. The PUP shows ads into all well-known browsers like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
Generally, users that have it installed on their systems might see different pop-ups, banners, search suggestions, sponsored link advertisements displayed on popular pages. The search results could also being altered, displaying information loaded with spam and third-party advertising.
CycloneCover is usually bundled with other free software programs and is getting installed by default, when the user accepts the “bundle” EULA. That is why, you should be very careful when performing an installation and always choose the custom installation, as it will allow you to choose what is going to be installed.
